The Haggis Takes Flight: Part 2 Electric Boogaloo

Whenever traveling abroad there are two things that you should keep in mind.

One, make sure you are prepared for your flight.

Two, realizing that you aren’t prepared for your flight.

I do not believe that there was anything that could have prepared me for the fourteen hour flight to Tokyo, Japan. During the first three hours of the plane ride it was exciting, thrilling that I would be starting a new life in Japan. After the start of the fourth hour however, the leg cramps started to kick in. I would yearn to stretch or even take a slight run, but the only option was to take yet another bathroom break just to have a reason to walk around.

The food on the Delta flight was surprisingly rather good. Starting from the left of the picture, the main meal was mashed sweet potatoes, a ground chicken patty, and zucchini (or a courgette in British English). At the top of the picture is some sort of a Mediterranean salad. The taste of it was that of olives and herbs. And last we had a cheesecake soufflé thing. All in all, it was a good meal to get through my flight.

After 14 hours and several movies later, I arrived in Tokyo. All that wishing to walk around would defiantly be fulfilled with the COVID maze that came after. There were several steps of checking documents of previous COVID-19 negative test results, where you were to be quarantined, and several steps to take another test.

After all that, I went through immigration and out the other side to the bus that would take me to my hotel. By this time it was 7:00 at night and I was so tired. Look at me!

I am trying to smile and stay positive :)

Then, at last I reached the hotel, did more check in paperwork with the wonderful JET personnel, and slept….a lot.
